Welcome Rochester High School Staff and Students!

Parent Teacher Conferences

Please note that a schedule change has been made regarding the night of Parent Teacher Conferences. They will now be held on Thursday, October 10th.

New Traffic Flow for Parent and Student Departures

During the construction of Livernois, the traffic pattern for exiting the Rochester High campus has been changed.
Parents: When picking up students, enter and exit from Walton Blvd. through the circle drive.
Students: When exiting Rochester High campus, access to the circle drive exit will be closed. Head towards either of the east exits on Livernois or Walton.
Please note the yellow arrows on the map below.

Livernois Construction Update

Picture

  • On Friday, Aug. 30, RCOC will open the southbound lanes of Livernois Road; however, the new southbound lanes will be used to maintain northbound traffic until the project is complete. The current northbound traffic lanes will then be closed to complete the second phase of the construction.
  • The traffic signal at the corner of Livernois and University will be adjusted to assist the traffic flow. Two lanes of traffic are anticipated. One lane will allow northbound Livernois traffic to either proceed straight on Livernois or turn right onto University Drive heading eastbound. There will also be a single left turn lane to allow traffic to head westbound on University Drive.
  • The RCOC plans to monitor the traffic flow and will alter the signal timing to help clear the intersection during arrival and dismissal times.
  • The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. Motorists can expect delays during construction. We respectfully ask that you exercise the necessary patience and support to ensure everyone’s protection. Please consider the following tips:
  • Plan to arrive earlier at the start of school to avoid long wait periods due to heavier traffic volumes.
  • Consider having eligible students use school bus services for the duration of the construction.
  • Consider carpooling with friends and neighbors to help reduce traffic in the area.
  • Please exercise patience with the anticipated delays and slower traffic, especially during the first few weeks as everyone adjust to the new traffic pattern.
Your patience, understanding and cooperation during this time is greatly appreciated. With the help of our RHS parents, students and staff, we can successfully navigate through the Livernois construction project.

Attendance Incentive Information

Picture
The Attendance Incentive will be the same as the previous year. For the 2019-2020 school year please refer to the following guidelines for attendance:

Students may choose to opt out of their semester final exams if they meet the following criteria:

  • No more than three absences in any class for a semester
  • No semester suspensions

Students must also meet one of the following academic criteria:

  • Minimum grade of 77% in a class, OR
  • Minimum grade of 65% AND no missing assignments or assessments in the class.

Points of Clarification:
1.       Students who qualify for the final exam incentive will still have the option of taking the final exam. The grade will be calculated into the semester grade if it improves the final grade. These students will not have their grades lowered if they choose to take the exam.
2.       The minimum grade criterion (77% in the class, or 65% and no missing assignments) must be fulfilled within five school days prior to the end of the semester or as directed by the teacher.
3.       Disqualification due to suspension can take place up to and including exam days.
4.       Absences for school business, such as field trips, athletic absences, or RCS testing, will not count toward the three absences. All other absences are counted the same, with the possible exception of religious holidays.
5.       Every three tardies equal one absence.
6.       Students can review their absences in StudentVUE. If a student reaches four absences or more in any one class they do not qualify for the incentive in any class.
7.       Students who are scheduled to take the final exam and do not complete the final exam will receive an E. There is no make-up exam.
