One & Done!

The mission of the PTSA is to enrich our students’ high school experience, and this mission remains even in this unexpected school year. RHS PTSA DOES NOT fundraise. Please consider a tax-deductible donation to sustain PTSA driven programs, as well supporting valuable and enriching classroom materials and projects. 100% of your contribution directly supports RHS students. Here are some examples of how your PTSA uses its funds to support our students: books and furniture for classrooms, maker space materials, recycle carts, Quiz Bowl support, funding for Amity Scholars and the virtual autopsy presentation, staff wish box, and more.

It’s easy to donate online! https://rochesterhs.new.memberhub.store/store

Or you can print and submit a completed form with a check made payable to RHS PTSA to at the RHS main office or mail it to Rochester High School, PTSA, 1361 Walton Blvd. Rochester Hills, MI 48309. Thank you for supporting RHS!

You can also see all of these information, located on the PTSA tab at the top of the webpage.

Update for Work Permits

Please be aware that the state now requires that we return to our regular procedure for processing work permits. Please pick up the appropriate form (pink for UNDER 16, yellow for 16 & 17 year olds) from the main office, then:
  • Complete Section I
  • Have employer complete Section II
  • Bring back to school (with driver’s license, if available) to be completed
Please call 248-726-5427 or 248-726-5407, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., to be sure that someone is available to complete and sign your permit.

Congratulations to Our  National Merit Semifinalists!

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) recently announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Over 1.5 million juniors entered the competition by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. These talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 national Merit scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors. Congratulations to the five students from Rochester High School for being recognized as a Semifinalist!

Reporting Absences

Parents, please be sure that you are justifying your students absence or if they can not attend the entire zoom, by going on ParentVue or by calling the school's attendance line at (248) 726-5410.  Click the PDF below for instructions and details on this process.

Reporting absences through ParentVUE is completely optional and you may instead contact your school's attendance office as you have before. Partial-day absences need to be called in to the attendance office.

For ParentVUE tech support and feedback, please reach out to rcsvuehelp@rochester.k12.mi.us.

Textbook Condition Form

Each year, students at RHS complete a “textbook condition sheet” after receiving their textbooks. On these sheets, students can note any existing wear and tear for books that have been with RHS for a while and may have existing wear. It’s important for students to document it so they are not charged a repair or replacement fee at the end of the year.
This year, textbook conditions sheets are now completed using an online Google Form at http://bit.ly/RHStextbooks.
All students are encouraged to fill out the form for each of their books, For students who choose not to, it will be assumed there is no existing damage.

Textbook Pick-Up

If you were not able to make it to book distribution, please contact Mrs. Clavette with your list of books. Please email her at mclavette@rochester.k12.mi.us with the students name, phone number, and list of books. When the items are ready for pick-up, she will call you and leave them outside our main office doors (off Walton).

Back to School Tips

Welcome RHS families to the 2020-2021 School Year!
The counseling department will be casting a webinar on September 16th at 12 p.m.  The topic will be “Tips to be Successful in Virtual and Remote Learning”.  This session will last no longer than 30 minutes.  Participants will learn tips on time management, prioritizing, setting goals and more.  Please feel free to share with any other families or students that my find this beneficial.  We hope you will enjoy us! \
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8G6x4rqzSAo

Remote Learning Overview

School will begin on Tuesday, September 1st for all students. As this is a Tuesday, students will be attending 4th, 5th and 6th hour. Additionally, there will not be school on Friday, September 4th, or Monday, September 7th due to Labor Day. In temporary remote learning, all students begin the school day at 8:30 am.

During the first weeks of school, students can expect to meet their teachers and classmates online, complete tutorials and guided sessions to introduce remote and virtual learning, and begin establishing class routines and expectations. Student attendance will be taken each day. Classes will include a live video meeting (Zoom/Google Meet) each day in which attendance will be taken and recorded by the teacher. The camera should be turned on in the beginning of the virtual meeting for attendance purposes. Parents are still responsible for reporting their child’s absence through our attendance line (248) 726-5410 or through ParentVUE.

RCS Social-Emotional Resources for Families and Students

Families are invited to take advantage of the student wellness resources that have been compiled in a new website, developed specifically for the RCS community by our RCS teams. This valuable collection of tools provides crisis contacts, family activity ideas, parent resources, book recommendations, coping strategies, and contact information for the counselors and professionals in each school.

The social-emotional resource site can be accessed from the RCS webpage at www.rochester.k12.mi.us or you may go to: https://rcssocialemotionalresources.weebly.com/.

Our educators and support staff will use these tools throughout the school year to develop personal connections and foster students’ social-emotional awareness and sense of belonging. When educators aim to understand the experiences and backgrounds of their students, they can develop an appreciation for their students’ cultural identities and build authentic relationships. This creates a culture that promotes acceptance and trust, which can positively influence academic and social-emotional outcomes.

Food Service

The USDA approved a waiver effective Monday, August 31, 2020, that provides breakfast and lunchtime meals, free of charge, for all children 18 years of age and younger, including ATPS students 26 years of age and younger.

Curbside meal pickup is available, staring Tuesday, September 8, 2020. Adults may collect food for a student without the child being present. This program will run through December 31, 2020, or until funding is no longer available.

All families wishing to sign up for this program must submit a new registration, even if they had previously registered for other food service programs.

To register, go to:  https://forms.gle/YuwHFFGedx3dXbah7. Families will not receive a reply confirmation. Only one registration is needed per family.

Food service meals are distributed in two- and three-day increments of breakfast and lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., at the specified location listed below. The next food distribution day will be Tuesday September 8, 2020.
  • Rochester High School pickup: For McGregor, Long Meadow, Hamlin, and Rochester High families (Bus loop off of Walton Boulevard).
We encourage families to continue to fill out the online free and reduced meal application for the 2020-2021 school year. A new application is required to be completed at the beginning of each school year. For the online free and reduced meal application process, go to:  https://www.myschoolapps.com/Home/DistrictRedirect/ROCHESTER_MI?langid=1.

Applications for the current school year support the district beyond food service including Title I and 31a funding. This program also connects families to other community resources including Blessings in a Backpack, Neighborhood House and possible individual support for district programs.

If there are specific questions or concerns, please contact the Food Service Office at (248)726-4618 or email: focfoodservice@rochester.k12.mi.us.
