Seniors- Share Your RHS Memories!
Seniors, RHS is creating the annual Senior video and is looking for stories of inspiration from your years at RHS to share with others.
This year, we’d like you to record yourselves telling about your inspiring moments and to submit them to us for possible inclusion into our commencement video compilation.
Select one or more of the five possible “memory prompts”
1.A teacher I really appreciated is… because…
2.A moment I was proud to be a falcon was…
3.My most exciting classroom moment at RHS was…
4.My most memorable experience at RHS was when…
5.A moment for me that defined RHS spirit was…
If you have experiences to tell about for more than one of the five above, you are welcome to share them all! (Please record each one as a separate video.)
Give enough detail so that someone who does not go to RHS would understand the story. If mentioning a teacher, refer to them by their correct prefix and last name, such as Mr. DeLuca or Mrs. Miesch.
How to submit your videos:

How to submit your videos:
- Submit videos on the RHS Senior Memories Video - submission form at https://bit.ly/rhsseniors2020 by Friday, May 15th.
Video recording guidelines:
- 10-30 seconds in length
- Record yourself from approximately mid-body on up.
- Dress nicely (top half only needed).
- Speak loudly and clearly.
- Speak in a conversational tone, like you’re telling the story to a friend.
- Look at the camera the entire time.
- Record yourself against a blank wall or very neutral backdrop.
- Record in a location with as little background noise as possible.
- Record with your phone in landscape mode, not portrait.
- Be sure your phone is stationary, on a tripod or table. Use books if you need to get the phone higher. Ideally, you want the camera to be at your eye level or slightly higher. Do NOT hold your phone while you are recording. No matter how hard you try, you will not be able to get a steady shot.
- Frame your face well. It should be in the center of the picture (from left to right) and the top of your head should be about 2-3 fingers from the top of the frame.
- Make sure your lighting is good. Ideally, you want a soft, diffused light right in front of your face, so record yourself looking at a window, NOT with a window behind you. If it is too bright outside, move to another room and put a lamp behind the camera.
Questions? Feel free to email Mr. Amore, RHS Interim assistant principal, or Ms. Harris, media specialist.

A Message From the New Staff at RHS
Teacher Appreciation Week
Dear RCS Community,
Tuesday, May 5, is the day the nation celebrates and honors our teachers. Now, more than ever, the current learning environment has turned a spotlight on our schools and shown the greater community what we have always known: that teachers, counselors, administrators and support staff are our everyday heroes.
Rochester Community Schools’ teachers continue to lead by example. They bring their personal best to work every day and inspire a love of learning, even under the most difficult circumstances.
We invite you to join us in thanking our outstanding educators and dedicated professionals for personally connecting with our students, teaching life lessons alongside curriculum, and excelling in areas beyond what their training had prepared them to do.
Our teachers are at the heart of RCS pride in excellence.
Sincerely,
Robert Shaner, Ph.D.
Superintendent

Update on Remote Learning
Dear RCS Families and Staff Members,
Welcome back from spring break! As you are aware, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the state of Michigan continues to be on a “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order from the governor. All school buildings are closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.
In compliance with the executive order, RCS has submitted a plan for remote learning to Oakland Schools, our local intermediate school district, and the plan has been approved. Therefore, we will continue with the same remote learning schedule for secondary students that we have used since March 20. Click here to view online class access codes.
Our goal is to provide meaningful learning opportunities for students based on their current course schedule. Students are encouraged to complete the activities/tasks provided by teachers. Attendance will be taken. A student will be counted as “attending” whenever there is teacher contact, such as an assignment returned, participation in a class meeting, an email, etc.
Calendar dates for the remainder of the year:

Updates for AP Students
Important Information for AP testing
There has been a lot of information provided by College Board to students who are taking an upcoming online AP test. Below are important resources for students and families:
The first of this process is for students to check the email address they have on file with College Board (in their AP account). This is the email that testing information is sent to.
After confirming your email address, the most comprehensive document to read on testing is here. It is long, but very detailed. Most questions can be answered if you read though this testing guide thoroughly:
https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/pdf/ap-testing-guide-2020.pdf?SFMC_cid=EM305178-&rid=47388674
On testing day this checklist is suggested for students to follow.
