SPOTLIGHT ON INSTRUCTION
Mr. Gollon has spent his entire teaching career of 35 years with Rochester Community Schools. Beginning as a substitute teacher and technical theatre advisor, he was handed the theatre program and hired full-time in 1985. Since then, he has been honored to be a member of the English department teaching both Language Arts courses and Theatre classes. In addition, he has been the Theatre Coordinator during this time directing and producing plays, musicals, one acts, variety shows, and improvisation events.
Mr. Gollon's 9th grade Language Arts classes are just completing their unit on Homer’s Odyssey. As a final activity, the students are completing their own “odyssey” that has them in teams working to solve clues that take them throughout the school. As they journey, they are using their knowledge of the text, along with a “guidebook,” to find their path home from Troy with the riches of Ithaca awaiting the winners.

ASL PERFORMS FOR RHS
Ms. Lowry’s American Sign Language classes (level 1) have been learning and practicing how to sign Beyoncé’s song “Halo”. The week of December 11th to the 15th the classes performed for other RHS classes and teachers. The students signed wonderfully and would like to thank all the teachers for letting us perform for them!
