SPOTLIGHT ON INSTRUCTION
|
Mrs. Cosentino is very passionate about teaching her students important and meaningful life skills. During the Careers Class Final Exam students were asked to independently interview staff members. Social Communication Skills were put into action, with the goal that the skills learned will carry over to their future jobs. In addition to their daily "in-house jobs" around RHS, the students along with their Peer Mentors and families recently volunteered at "Blessings in a Backpack". It was a fun and meaningful way to give back to the community.

RHS STUDENT ACCEPTED TO WEST POINT
Rochester High School Senior, Shreyans Munot, has been accepted and will be attending the United States Military Academy, West Point, this fall. The application process started in May of 2016 when he was accepted into the West Point summer camp. Being a four year varsity swimmer helped Shreyans pass multiple physical tests to get into camp last year and West Point this fall. Part of West Point's application process includes being nominated by a Congressman; Shreyans was nominated by two, Representative Mike Bishop and Senator Debbie Stabenow. Shreyans would like to thank his parents, sister, and the RHS staff, most notably Ms. Burke, Mrs. Matthews, and Mrs. Zotos, for all of their support.

SPRING PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE UPDATE
This Spring, we are restructuring the format of Parent-Teacher conferences. Each level (high school and middle school) will offer one evening conference session for three hours instead of two evenings, and it is recommended that parents attend only if they have concerns about their student in any course. Parents are reminded that they are always welcome to communicate with teachers through email or phone, and that they are able to stay informed through MyRCS.
Please mark the following update on your calendar for March:
Middle School Parent-Teacher conferences: Thursday March 9, 4:30 – 7:30
High School Parent-Teacher conferences: Wednesday, March 8, 5:00 – 8:00
Conferences on March 1st and March 2nd have been cancelled.
